Day 1: The journey begins! You embark on your exciting adventure to the North. Tonight you and the other participants will catch the night train from Stockholm to Kiruna in Sweden. Perfect opportunity to already get to know your travel companions. When you wake up, you will be surrounded by beautiful winter landscape.

Day 2: Welcome to Lapland. The night train arrives in Kiruna in the morning. From here a private transfer will take you to your final destination: Äkäslompolo in Finnish Lapland. Your Guide will warmly welcome you at your accommodation. The group enjoys a delicious lunch out and a private, steamy sauna by the stream will be waiting for you in the evening for a proper Finnish welcome. Dinner prepared at accommodation.

Day 3: Day Ski and expedition prep. After a wholesome breakfast it is time to introduce you to the ski set and teach you the technique. We will use the day to get used to the skis and go on a explorer mission to a fire place in the forest for lunch. In the early evening back at the cabin we will go over all the needed equipment for our big adventure and pack our personal things. Dinner prepared at cabin.

Day 4-8: And we are off! After an early breakfast we get picked up by a taxi which takes us to the starting point of our ski tour (2.5 hrs). Backcountry skiing through the wilderness. Halfway through we enjoy a refreshing wilderness sauna. Accommodation in wilderness huts.

Day 9: Return from our ski tour in the afternoon. Well-deserved warm showers and sauna is waiting for us at the hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the Pallas Hotel.

Departure Day: After breakfast it is time to say goodbye. If you would like to extend your stay in Finland, let us know and we will help you with tips and additional booking arrangements. Otherwise a taxi will take you back to Kiruna, Sweden where you'll continue the journey home.

Our journey takes us into the vast landscapes of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, one of the most beautiful fell areas in Northern Finland, far above the Arctic Circle. The landscape is shaped by gently rolling fells (“tunturis” in Finnish), wide open tundra, and ancient pine forests covered in snow for much of the year.

This captivating nature is home to reindeer, moose, mountain hare, foxes, golden eagles, and many other northern species. With little light pollution and endless open landscapes, the park offers a true sense of silence, space, and connection to nature.

In January and early February, the low Arctic sun paints the snowy landscape in soft pastel colours during the few daylight hours. By March and April, the days become much longer, temperatures milder, and the returning sun brings warmth and golden light to the North once again.

The first two nights of the journey are spent in a cosy fully equipped cabin in Äkäslompolo, giving us time to settle in, prepare our equipment, and ease into life in the North before heading into the wilderness.

During the ski expedition, we stay in traditional wilderness huts maintained by the Finnish forest service. The huts are simple and remote, offering an authentic Arctic wilderness experience far away from roads, phone signal, and everyday distractions.

Inside, the cabins are heated with a wood stove that keeps us warm and helps dry clothes after long days on skis. Wooden bunk beds with mattresses and pillows provide a comfortable place to rest, while evenings are spent cooking together, sharing stories, and enjoying the simplicity of life in the outdoors.

There is no running water or electricity in the huts. Water is collected from nearby streams when possible, although melting snow may sometimes be necessary. Each cabin also has its own woodshed and traditional outdoor dry toilet.

Good food is an essential part of every adventure for us. During the first two nights in our cabin in Äkäslompolo, we cook and share meals together while preparing for the journey ahead.

Out in the wilderness, we continue to prepare fresh, filling, and delicious meals together each day. After long hours on skis, there is nothing better than gathering in a warm cabin over a hearty dinner. Breakfast and lunch are also prepared as a group, creating a simple and communal atmosphere throughout the expedition.

We can cater for vegetarian diets and most dietary requirements with prior notice. As the cooking facilities in the wilderness huts are small and limited, we kindly ask for understanding that we may not be able to offer a large variety of separate options.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding food, feel free to reach out — we will always do our best to make sure dietary needs do not prevent you from joining the adventure.

During the ski expedition, the terrain is varied and includes both uphill and downhill sections. Depending on snow and weather conditions, we usually ski between 8 and 20 km per day and spend around 5–7 hours on the move.

There is always plenty of time for breaks, snacks, and photo stops along the way. Travel speed varies greatly depending on the snow conditions — on firmer snow we may cover around 3 km per hour, while breaking trail in fresh snow can slow progress significantly. Flexibility and adapting to nature are all part of the experience.

No previous skiing experience is required, and beginners are very welcome. However, a good level of physical fitness is important, as we will be skiing for several consecutive days while pulling sleds weighing around 25 kg. Two participants share one sled.
